- Help for Version 2.0 : (28 Sep 1993)
-
- ----------------------------------------
-
- Yes it's back! This is the all-new, super-trendy Mouse program!
- Mouse II is the latest version of my mouse speed controller.
-
- Advantages over Mouse 1.0
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- 1. One of the greatest improvements to Mouse is the reduction of memory
- needed to run the program. Mouse now has a wimpslot of 48k which is
- two thirds of the amount needed by it's predecessor.
-
- 2. The user interface has been greatly improved. It now uses RISC-OS3
- 3d icons and it now no longer requires Interface Manager (sorry
- RISC-OS2 users! You've probably got a really boring-looking set of
- icons!).
-
- 3. MouseII does a lot more than just change your mouse step-rate! See
- below for more info on Mouse's new facilities.
-
- 4. My rodent icon now has a really trendy pair of shades!
-
- Using Mouse II
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Once Mouse II has been installed you can click SELECT over the rodent
- icon to access the main window- this is where you change the mouse
- step-rate. The five speed icons, indicated 1-5, allow you to set the
- step-rate for both x and y directions. If you want to have a varied x,y
- step then use the arrow icons to the left of this. You will notice that
- the text underneath the rodent icon changes from showing the step to
- "Varied" when you set independant rates.
-
- Clicking on the "Default" icon returns the mouse step-rate to it's
- original value (i.e. the value configured in your computer's CMOS
- memory.).
-
- Clicking SELECT on the "More Options" icon leads you to...
-
- More Mouse Options
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- This window controls Mouse II's new facilties. The three option icons
- are:
-
- * Wrap Mouse Pointer- when this is toggled on, the mouse pointer is
- 'wrapped around' the screen so when it reaches the border of the
- screen it reappears on the opposite side.
-
- * Enlarged Pointer- this replaces the standard mouse pointer shape with
- a brightly-coloured, enlarged arrow. This should be useful for those
- who find Acorn's traditional shape difficult to see. With this
- psycadelic montrosity crawling around your screen, it will be very
- difficult not to miss it!
-
- * Allow Cursor Control- when this is toggled on, you can use the cursor
- keys to move the mouse pointer around the screen for more accurate
- positioning. Users of programs such as Paint and FormEd should benefit
- from this. The amount the pointer moves in one keypress is dictated by
- the Increment which can be set via the writeable field next to this
- icon. This field is only useable when the option icon is toggled on.
-
- Below these option icons are three slabbed action icons:
-
- * Save- clicking on this icon will allow you to save the above options
- to disk so that they take effect whenever Mouse is loaded.
-
- * Config Speed- configures the current mouse step-rate as the default
- value. This is then set for when you next switch on your computer or
- perform a hard reset. Only whole numbers can be stored in CMOS and if
- Mouse detects a Varied step-rate it will cancel the operation until
- you set the step using one of the five speed icons.
-
- * Both- does both of the above and then removes the Options window. A
- Quick way of saving your mouse status.
-
- Credits
- ~~~~~~~
- I would like to briefly mention the following people for producing
- software which makes my life so much easier: Joe Taylor (for the
- excellent WIMP procedure library), Architype Software (for the cruncher
- BasShrink), Dick Alstein (for a really decent template editor- not many
- of those!) and for the bloke who wrote the hourglass maker program I
- needed.

- Boring Stuff
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- This program is classed as FreeWare which means that it is the property
- of:
- © ACHSoft a.k.a. Andrew Heckford
-
- You may use this program in any way you like as long as:
-
- 1. You don't attempt to pass it off as your own work.
-
- 2. The copies distributed to friends etc are not altered in any way. All
- updates should be sent to me, please.
-
- 3. You do not sell it. This really annoys me! I don't get any profit
- from this software so I don't see why anybody else should either. You
- may charge a small price if you're running PD library or you need
- something to cover the cost of discs or p&p.
-
- 4. You don't blame me when the program totally screws up your computer.
- If you read the above instructions thoroughly you shouldn't have any
- problems. Legitemate queries I will accept but blatent misuse- well...
